Showcasing Tucson’s Rich Heritage
2025 has been a year of growth, creativity, and collaboration for
Davis de Dios Media.
The company continues to highlight Tucson’s cultural heritage while mentoring
the next generation of filmmakers through partnerships, educational opportunities,
and impactful storytelling projects.
Visit Tucson Partnership
This year, Davis de Dios Media launched two major
video projects with Visit Tucson, spotlighting Southern Arizona’s diverse heritage.
The first, The Old Pueblo: A Historical Series, began in February 2025 as a
multicultural video campaign that shines a light on underrepresented stories from Tucson’s past.
The mini documentaries have featured Charles “Mr. K” Kendrick, the Buffalo Soldiers, pioneering women like
Larcena Pennington, and the city’s Chinese community and unique culinary heritage.
These 60–90 second vignettes are designed to engage audiences worldwide.
The second campaign, the Tucson 250+ Heritage and History YouTube Short Series,
premiered in August 2025. Monthly episodes explore Tucson’s layered history, including the
founding of the Presidio, the Catholic influences, Mexican heritage, and the traditions and histories of the
Tohono O’odham and Yaqui Nations. Guest voices include Mayor Regina Romero, Bishop Emeritus
Gerald Kicanas, and Indigenous community leaders.
“The two Visit Tucson series have been incredible opportunities to showcase voices and stories that too often go untold,” said CEO Alan Scott Davis, who serves as director and director of photography on the projects. “Our mission has always been to combine powerful visuals with authentic storytelling.”
University of Arizona Collaborations
As proud alumni, the team at Davis de Dios Media
deepened their collaborations with the University of Arizona in 2025. They worked with the
R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy, College of Engineering, and the Space 4 Center with the newly rebranded Office of Research and Partnerships, while preparing
campaigns for the Coit Museum of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and other units and departments across campus.
“As U of A alumni, it’s especially meaningful for us to collaborate with the many colleges and programs that shaped who we are as a company,” said John Ouano de Dios, company co-founder and lead writer. “Mentorship is central to our vision — ensuring students have the resources and opportunities to grow with their craft while contributing to meaningful projects.”
Aspiring filmmakers like Gael Baup and Matthew
Maxim received financial and professional support for their short film The Glass Planet,
gaining access to state-of-the-art facilities like ASU’s Volume Stage and professional mentorship along the way.
The company also helped photograph the University’s Spring 2025 Commencement, creating content for a curated photobook for honorary
degree recipients.
Looking Ahead
Davis de Dios Media is preparing for future growth
with new collaborations, including projects with the Diocese of Tucson and other regional
partners. Upcoming campaigns are set to bring new perspectives on iconic landmarks and expand
Tucson’s stories to global audiences.
“Our growth in 2025 has only been possible because of the trust and collaboration of our partners,”
said COO Jonathan Olesen. “We’re excited about the work ahead, both here in Tucson and with
new partners across the globe.”
